“Story of my eyes” | Edmonton Child Photographer
Today has been a quiet day around the house. I’ve been busy getting a couple sessions ready for their galleries and the kids have been playing quietly on their own which was a blessing after a rather rough start to the day (I’ve been washing bedding all morning lol). In my editing zone I was a little annoyed to hear Eve crying from her room where she was supposed to be having an extra long nap today…she apparently didn’t get the memo.
I decided to take a break and take a couple shots of my poor neglected 3rd child… soon enough her sister came down and joined us in her mismatched purple velour sweat pants, t-shirt and of course pink dress (3rd dress of the day) that she threw overtop. I confess…I contemplated asking her to change clothes or telling her to get out of my shot. I bit my tongue, though maneuvered myself to only take pictures of Eve…

Hunter came down and I asked him to “read” Eve a story. He squints his eyes at me and asks “can I tell a story of my eyes?” That didn’t fit my vision…plus I had no idea what he was talking about! I insisted he read to her…

When I finished taking the picture of him reading to her I got up and put my camera down. He looks at me and asks once again to “tell the story of my eyes”. Sure Hunter – go nuts… He proceeds to squeeze his eyes tightly shut and start with “Once upon a time there was a space ranger named Hunter, a princess named Agelle, and a dragon named Eve.”

…and I’m ashamed by my impatience with him… Dear Hunter – I LOVE your imagination – never lose the ability to “tell the story of your eyes”.
Another personal note | Edmonton Child Photographer
Every age and stage is “my favorite” especially when it comes to my own kids. I love the soft curly newborn stage that I’m usually too sleep deprived to fully enjoy, and the more interactive stage at 6 months when love to look at you and smile but they usually can’t move anywhere (best stage for photography!!) As they get older I discover things I love about the age they are at. Eve hit the 6 month mark in January but decided to take her time getting active and didn’t actually sit on her own until last month (woohoo! Just the kind of pace I like!) A few of my favs of her…

Changes
A week ago Monday I went from looking like this…

to…ok well I’m not going to show you my belly in the aftermath – but meet our latest addition, Evelyn Esther (aka… baby Eve)

Just like her sister she was comfy cozy and had to be encouraged out via an induction. And while there may have been some rather emotional moments while I was in early labour and felt like she was never going to come out – it was probably the best and easiest birth experience of my three kids. I was able to labour at home for several hours before heading in to the hospital – and she arrived just over an hour after we got there – only missing her brother’s birthday by less than an hour and a half!
I have some blogging to catch up on from sessions completed prior to Eve’s birth but in general we have closed the office for the next few weeks. As many of you know with your own babies, this time is so short and it’s so important to make the most of it. We will not be scheduling any sessions for the remainder of July and August and may be a bit slower to respond to e-mails during this time as well.
We are, however, already anticipating the fall, which is looking to be our busiest season yet! Because of this time in our lives, the number of sessions we can take on will be limited – but there will be some amazing deals! We will be announcing our fall/Christmas specials in the next few weeks! We are taking bookings for September and on. Saturdays book up quickly so if you are wanting a weekend session we encourage you to book sooner than later.
As well we will be unveiling a new logo and website in the next couple months. Thanks everyone for your patience as we sort out our lives as parents to 3!
Much loved baby ‘P’ | Spruce Grove Newborn Photographer
It’s been hard to catch up on my blog posts since my trip to Atlanta which is a whole other post on it’s own! I apologize for the delay! This little one was born just before the Atlanta trip and we hurried to try to get her in within my preferred two week deadline! Babies under two weeks old generally have much easier sessions than those who are older, plus that 10 days to 2 week mark is often a turning point where babies often get acne and develop colic so we start playing with fire scheduling much later than that! So the day after I got home I packed up and headed to their home for our session. P, though just over that two week mark did remarkably well and gave us a good chunk of sleep time! She is much much loved by not only her mommy and daddy, but two very adoring older siblings! She is one lucky girl!
