I remember how excited Stephanie was to tell me she was expecting. She and I have been friends for a few years. Life has been crazy for us, for them, and for us again but we’ve always found time to touch base and pick up where we left off. She was one of the first people to know I was pregnant with Hunter 5 plus years ago and has been a wonderful friend and “auntie” to each of my kids. Now it’s her turn and I couldn’t be more happy for her! Knowing that I wanted to try out a bit of a different style of photography, she and her husband were up for anything!
Then a few weeks later they came by the studio to get some more traditional shots…
We had hoped the studio session would put her into labor as she was well over 39 weeks but alas baby took her sweet time to join us – so it was a good 4 weeks before we got to bring baby S in for her debut! I don’t think I’ve ever had a more content baby. She slept through every set only waking once to eat – it was a photographer’s dream! Plus her mommy came armed with all sorts of knitted and crocheted goodness for me! Stephanie is the master behind the Etsy store Warmth on the Brain.

Congratulations to my beautiful friends and their gorgeous daughter! I couldn’t be more happy for you!
Changes
A week ago Monday I went from looking like this…

to…ok well I’m not going to show you my belly in the aftermath – but meet our latest addition, Evelyn Esther (aka… baby Eve)

Just like her sister she was comfy cozy and had to be encouraged out via an induction. And while there may have been some rather emotional moments while I was in early labour and felt like she was never going to come out – it was probably the best and easiest birth experience of my three kids. I was able to labour at home for several hours before heading in to the hospital – and she arrived just over an hour after we got there – only missing her brother’s birthday by less than an hour and a half!
I have some blogging to catch up on from sessions completed prior to Eve’s birth but in general we have closed the office for the next few weeks. As many of you know with your own babies, this time is so short and it’s so important to make the most of it. We will not be scheduling any sessions for the remainder of July and August and may be a bit slower to respond to e-mails during this time as well.
We are, however, already anticipating the fall, which is looking to be our busiest season yet! Because of this time in our lives, the number of sessions we can take on will be limited – but there will be some amazing deals! We will be announcing our fall/Christmas specials in the next few weeks! We are taking bookings for September and on. Saturdays book up quickly so if you are wanting a weekend session we encourage you to book sooner than later.
As well we will be unveiling a new logo and website in the next couple months. Thanks everyone for your patience as we sort out our lives as parents to 3!
Much loved baby ‘P’ | Spruce Grove Newborn Photographer
It’s been hard to catch up on my blog posts since my trip to Atlanta which is a whole other post on it’s own! I apologize for the delay! This little one was born just before the Atlanta trip and we hurried to try to get her in within my preferred two week deadline! Babies under two weeks old generally have much easier sessions than those who are older, plus that 10 days to 2 week mark is often a turning point where babies often get acne and develop colic so we start playing with fire scheduling much later than that! So the day after I got home I packed up and headed to their home for our session. P, though just over that two week mark did remarkably well and gave us a good chunk of sleep time! She is much much loved by not only her mommy and daddy, but two very adoring older siblings! She is one lucky girl!

Come find us on Facebook!
After my last post featuring many beautiful winter scenes I feel cold. Time for a quick spring warm up!

Oh and if you haven’t found us on Facebook here’s how to join our fan page!
Hope to see you there!
Welcoming Baby R | Edmonton Newborn Photographer
10 years ago – about this time – I was starting my 2nd year at PRBI. I was unpacking clothes in my dorm room when I heard a big loud laugh coming from the room across the hall. Knowing that one of my good friends from the previous year was due to be here by now I barged in barely pausing to knock on the door. And there was Patti. Not actually my friend – but my friend’s new roommate. She was actually pretty good about the whole stranger bursting into her room. We chatted for awhile and then went back to un-packing. I think our friendship was solidified within a couple of weeks. Thinking back I wonder when it clicked for us…could it have been the night we wandered around the dorm bored and a little too mischievous for our own good? Or the time the majority of the dorm girls decided to get back at us by switching around all our stuff? That year was one of the best years of my life, and Patti still one of my best friends! (Though really as I wracked my brain for stories I could tell about her I realized that the majority of them are completely inappropriate for public telling…truely the stuff the best friendships are made of)
Miles of highway as well as our busy lives and families mean we don’t see each other as often as we’d like, but this last weekend Brian and I packed up the kids and my camera equipment to drive up to Grande Prairie for a visit and to welcome their newest little one born at the beginning of this month! Isn’t he adorable?

Little D is here! | Edmonton Newborn Photographer
This little guy was so into the world around him. Not wanting to miss a thing, he laid awake even with all my usual tricks to getting a baby to sleep through my posing. You see, getting a baby to sleep isn’t as easy as you may think. I come to the house armed not only with props and blankets but also bring my handy rice bag, and an additional space heater. Often I’ll plug in some sounds of the womb just to seal the deal. Usually the heat, and a good feed is more than enough to get a newborn to sleep – especially if they are in the first week. D was one week old and even though I didn’t get my normal posed sleeping pics he was content to let me snap away while he chilled. I LOVE his smirk in the last shot. He has two older brothers and I can just tell he’s going to give as good as he gets!

Baby E makes her appearance | Edmonton Newborn Photographer
Those of you who know me in person know that I love babies. I didn’t know I loved babies before I had my own. But the love I had/have for my own kids kind of just spilled over so that hearing the sweet cry of one only a few days old just makes my heart do a jump even if they are no relation to me. This little girl here almost feels like family though. Little E’s mom shared a half duplex with us for a few years and I’m so happy for her and this new stage of life. A few weeks ago we met up to take some maternity pics. Now finally her sweet baby girl is here and we met up once more for her photoshoot. She slept so peacefully for a couple hours while I posed her, and then opened her eyes so wide so we could see her baby blues. So rare to have such great eye contact at 6 days! Here were a couple of my favorites…isn’t she GORGEOUS?
